Therma Vision and Repairs

We do not perform repairs as part of our Thermographic Survey, and generally prefer not to undertake any work on premises where we provide Thermography as part of the site preventive maintenance program.

This arms length approach is taken for two reasons:

  1. We can be impartial in assessing non compliance issues;

  2. We do not gain benefit by workload proportional to faults found.

The one exception is as described in our are those panels live page where a screw driver may be used to check the position of easily reached screw terminations where a thermal anomaly is being clarified and:

  • If the client has approved live terminal tightening, and;

  • if the temperatures involved are low level; and,

  • if there is no sign of damage; and,

  • if the terminal is found to be loose; then

  • the terminal may be tightened and re-examined with the Thermal Imager.

The rationale for this is that the fault has been documented, but fixed on the spot with no extra time involved for the Thermographer, and the customer does not need to recall an electrician. Where the customer's electrician accompanies the Thermographic team, that electrician might do the work, and the report will indicate this for the customer - see our report to customer page. On some occasions hundreds of terminals might be tightened on a large site, both minimising the likelihood of further deterioration, and removing the need for the electrician to re-attend at a later date.
