Multinational Data Disaster Recovery Centre

Workers at a Multinational computer centre in Western Sydney felt that the main incoming supply cabinet was hot. Their infrastructure consultant had previously used our services following a fire in a new Main Switchboard in a bank, and urgently called for our Thermographers.

The termination of the right hand incomer parallel conductors (Blue, or "C" Phase) with its' bus bar was found to be in excess of 350 Degrees Centigrade, and along with the other phases was carrying 630 Amps.

The shutdown they were planning when they found the hot termination was put on hold, and an alternate generator supply was hurriedly obtained. A full week of mains supply cable re-running followed. Very expensive, but much cheaper than the catastrophic failure which was about to occur in their National Data Disaster Recovery Centre!

These images show the bus bar before and after repairs. MOUSE OVER the right hand image to see Thermography used to verify effectiveness of the work done (notice the dates? - it took 4 days to arrange generator supply and pull in new mains!).

A full Thermographic Survey was then conducted throughout the building, and from this a targetted planned maintenance shutdown was designed.
